Thin Hexagon Nut

Thin hexagon nuts, also known as jam nuts or half-height hex nuts, are similar in shape to standard hex nuts but are about half the thickness. They are used primarily in applications where a standard hex nut would be too thick or where a low-profile nut is needed. Thin hex nuts are often used in tandem with a standard hex nut to "jam" or lock the main nut in place, preventing loosening from vibration or motion.

Size: M22*1.5*35

Grade: 10

Material: 10b21

Finish: Zinc plating with color, Heat treatment

Key Features:

  • Reduced Thickness: These nuts are typically about half as thick as standard hex nuts, allowing them to fit into tight or low-clearance spaces.
  • Low-Profile Design: Ideal for applications where minimal height is needed, or where weight and space-saving are important.
  • Locking Function: Commonly used as a secondary, locking nut to prevent a primary nut from loosening under vibration or other forces.

Uses and Applications:

  • Locking Applications: Used alongside a standard nut to create a locking mechanism; the thin nut is usually tightened against the main nut, creating friction and reducing the chance of loosening.
  • Space-Restricted Areas: Ideal for spaces with limited clearance where a standard nut cannot fit.
  • Adjustable Components: Useful in applications where fine adjustments are necessary, such as in machine setups, where it can lock a primary nut without adding significant height.
  • Furniture Assembly: Common in furniture and low-stress structures where lightweight and low-profile fasteners are preferred.

Advantages:

  • Space Efficiency: Thin design allows for secure fastening in compact areas.
  • Enhanced Vibration Resistance: When used as a jam nut with a standard nut, it helps prevent the main nut from loosening under vibration.
  • Weight Savings: Their smaller size makes them lighter, which can be a factor in applications sensitive to weight, such as aerospace components or portable machinery.
  • Cost-Effective Locking Solution: Provides a simple way to lock nuts in place without needing specialized lock nuts or additional components.
